Introduction—There Is A Power

Read a Selection from Section 1: |
It doesn't matter how difficult a personal problem or tragedy in our lives might appear, for in truth, it is of no consequence. Notwithstanding how impossible the situation appears or how hopeless the cause, be assured that there is a solution waiting for you. The solution is The Power. It may be the Power of Self; the Power of Mind over Matter; the Power of your Soul; or the Power we call God. Whatever name you choose to give it, your easy access to the Power is Jude Thaddeus.
And why not? Why shouldn't he be able to help you access the Power and solve your problem? He's the patron Saint of Impossible Cases and Hopeless Causes! He's been helping millions solve little problems and big problems for nearly two thousand years.
There's always been a cloud of confusion shrouding St. Jude. Today there is confusion as to whether there are two St. Judes: one named Jude and the other named Jude Thaddeus. There are not two Judes! There's only one. His name is Jude Thaddeus. He was an apostle. He's the one that the hospitals are named after, like St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, and St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, California. According to many authorities, Jude Thaddeus was the first cousin of Jesus. Joseph, the father of Jesus, and Jude's father were brothers. Mary, the mother of Jesus, and Jude's mother were cousins. Jesus and Jude grew up in the same neighborhood. They were about the same age. They were schoolmates and very close friends for all of their lives.
Jude was not flamboyant. He didn't write a Gospel like Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. As a matter of fact, the New Testament has him writing but one epistle. Typical of Jude, the epistle is at the end of the section on Epistles. Almost at the end of the New Testament. Even in Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting of the Last Supper, Jude, who well could have been Jesus' best friend, is seated second from the end. During the Gospel stories, Jude is always there-but as a silent helper-seldom in the limelight.
