The Power of Jude
Life's Purpose

Read a Selection from Section 1:

The basis for film director Alain Tanner's Swiss film L'Homme Qui A Perdu Son Ombre (The Man Who Lost His Shadow) is that he who does not succeed in finding a purpose in life has lost his shadow. Mr. Tanner might well be quite surprised to find his name in a book about St. Jude but it illustrates the simple concept that we are, in different ways, all searching for the same answer. The questions we ask, particularly in bad times—"Why are we here?" "What is this all about?" "What is happening to me, and why?"—are always difficult to answer.

Each of us were given the gift of life for a specific reason. We are too important, too special, to think otherwise. Our soul, that which was created by God, makes each of us an individual-therein, say the teachers we agree with, lies the answer to why we were born. The soul is the vessel of our goals. The goals were put there by the God who created the soul.

Once the goals are identified (usually by reflection, introspection, meditation, and prayer) we become in sync with our soul and experience what we call in this book, "the Joy.'

Once in sync with the soul, we, through St. Jude, will be fully capable of providing for ourselves and our loved ones the food, clothing and shelter necessary for their wellbeing. God would not create a soul with goals to meet our Purpose in Life without also giving us access to a Power which will enable us to achieve our goals.

Finding goals through St. Jude happens so often, to so many, that the truth of the phenomenon becomes incontrovertible to all but the most rigid of skeptics.
