There are many that want me to tell them of secret ways of becoming perfect and I can only tell them that the sole secret is a hearty love of God, and the only way of attaining that love is by loving. You learn to speak by speaking, to study by studying, to run by running, to work by working; and just so you learn to love God and man by loving. Begin as a mere apprentice and the very power of love will lead you on to become a master of the art.
Jesus had but one message, Love. In the prayer He gave to us, the Our Father, there's just one request, that we be provided our daily bread, and only one condition, that we forgive others for what they do to us. Love, that's the message. It's the same message St. Francis of Assisi gave us in about the year 1200.
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
In the Love is the Power, and it is because of the Love that the disciples of Jesus—including St. Jude—stand ready to help us anytime we ask, and it is through the Love that they access the Power that will bring to us the Joy and the happiness that we deserve.
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this, men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
